Hurray for snow days!

Being able to take liberal leave today was such a blessing. Not only was I able to catch up on sleep, but I did some cleaning, reading, and movie-watching as well. The only things that could have made it better would have  been if it were pay day (or if I'd just had money handy) and could have order some delivery!

 

I wanted to catch up on baking, blogging and article writing, as well as jewelry-making, but I guess there are still only so many hours in the day. Over the Holidays I was introduced to some cookies and confections I hadn't had before. They were just kind of brought into the office and no one was quite sure who made them, but they were really good and unique. Someone had left a tray of cookies and each one was completely different. One was even kind of an 'inside-out' cookie. All of them were delicious!

 Also, I missed out on it, but someone was telling me about a confection another coworker brought in that was something like a truffle. It was cake-like inside, but coated with chocolate. Some had cream cheese inside the center of the cake center! I was assured that they were really delicious. I had pondered how one could make such a dessert, but had no idea. Then, the other day, I came across this recipe that I'm sure must have been what they did to make their cake-like truffles. I must try doing this, it looks fun and easy and the possibilities are endless for the varieties one can use in making 'cake truffles!'.  I might take it a step further and use a store bought cake to combine canned frosting with, thus eliminating another step and saving time in baking, leaving more time for experimenting! Yum!
